Case study: Momentum

Momentum has been our client from 2003 and is the insurance-operating subsidiary and fund-management holding company of the First Rand Group in South Africa. It is a leading provider of insurance and asset-management services to the sub-Saharan African market and has a footprint in no fewer than 11 countries.

The challenge

Momentum continuously went through the process of updating its policies and products, then re-printing and distributing them to all its brokers. The bottleneck that resulted from re-printing and physically distributing these updates was identified as the weakness. The Company was in dire need of a process that was faster and more cost effective.

The solution

DC Interactive, in collaboration with Pixel Project, set out to create software that would allow brokers to view products, to download and print documents and dynamically to obtain information and documentation updates from the centralised server. The tool succeeded in facilitating the implementation of policy changes by making them speedier and by reducing resistance to change and costs.

Results

Based on the success of the Momentum − Complete Health pilot project in 2003, an additional three products have been developed, namely Myriad, Myriad Namibia and Funds at Work. The software is used by more than 14 000 brokers in South Africa and Namibia at present, and more than 10 000 articles and documents have been distributed through the system to date.
